Thai Beef Salad Recipe

Ingredients

Beef sirloin or rump….1 lb

(Beef can be substituted for seared tofu for a vegetarian option, season with kosher salt and pepper before searing.)

Marinade:

Garlic clove, minced….1 each

Tamarind juice….3 tablespoons

Lime juice….3 tablespoons

Fish sauce….2 tablespoons

Pepper, freshly ground….3 teaspoons

Vinaigrette:

Fish sauce…3 tablespoons

Lime juice….3 tablespoons

Sugar…1 1/2 tablespoons

Shallots, finely sliced….1 tablespoon

Salad Mixture:

Boston lettuce, torn into bite sizes, or Napa Cabbage (chiffonade)….half a head

Cilantro sprigs….3/4 cup

Mint leaves, whole…. 3/4 cup

Sesame seeds, toasted…1/2 tablespoon

Thai chilies, sliced….2 teaspoons

Optional:

Add misua noodles/bean sprouts/fried shallots on top for crunch factor.

Method of Prep

1. Prepare the marinade. Marinate the beef for 1 hour.

2. Toss together lettice, cilantro and mint for salad mixture. Prepare the vinaigrette and toss salad lightly in vinaigrette.

3. Grill beef over high heat to desired doneness. Slice thin across the grain and arange over the salad. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds, thai chilies, and other optional ingredients.
